BOARD MEMBER

Starr Gerk

Starr Gerk has lived in the Sheboygan River Basin for over twenty years and been a board member for three years. Her roots with basin include living on the lakeshore her entire life. She remembers her parents taking the family to the beach where her dad would teach her how to fish at a young age. If you were looking for Starr you would find her in a kayak on the Sheboygan River. Many of her family members regularly launch their kayaks up river at Johnsonville and kayak down river for a few hours.

“Water to me is clean, clear, safe, fun, and drinkable.”

Currently as a board member and founding member of Friends of North Point (FONP) she brings the perspective of an outside organization to the table. FONP is a small group that brings awareness o the ecological value that the bluff has to offer. The group works with the City of Sheboygan, Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership (LNRP) and SRBP on events like beach cleanups, speaker series and a bluff restoration project. FONP promotes the bluff’s natural resources and stresses the importance of a healthy bluff community. She wants to be involved and learn what SRBP is about so she can better educate the public on what we may all do to improve and sustain a healthy watershed.
